Pronouns – She/Her/Her
Kate Green served in the Royal Military Police in the 1990’s in Germany and in the UK. She was ‘outed’ in a busy HQ corridor in Germany and was given the ultimatum of “be a soldier or be yourself – you can’t be both”.
She chose to be herself and left the Army in 1999, shortly before the ban was lifted.
However, it took a very long time for Kate to be authentic – a lasting legacy of having to hide for many years.
Since then, she has forged a career in the Royal British Legion, predominately with a worldwide welfare focus.
She lives on the Suffolk/Cambridge border with her wife Michelle and four dogs.
