(He/Him/His)
Before coming to Fighting With Pride, George worked in Parliament for an MP, where he had a variety of responsibilities helping to address concerns raised by local constituents, raising issues with Ministers and engaging with community groups.
Previous to this, he worked in an NHS Charity, fundraising to build new facilities to support patients. He also worked closely with hospital staff to identify and address their concerns so that the hospitals they worked in got better for staff and patients alike.
The military family and the wider LGBT+ family are both important for George. His partner, Rick, has been in the Army for over ten years, and both are keenly aware of the challenges faced by serving and former members of the Armed Forces and their families during and after their service. Similarly, as the former South West regional co-ordinator of a national LGBT+ organisation, George is keenly aware of the importance of local and community groups to people throughout the region. Supporting local LGBT+ veterans is therefore an initiative particularly close to George’s heart.
George grew up in Cheltenham and went to university in Cornwall and Ireland. Outside of work, he enjoys walking spaniels in the Cotswolds, reading more about history and exploring his home county of Gloucestershire – especially when he can take advantage of its food and drink!
Pride events for the region have finished for this year. We will try and get involved in as many local 2024 prides as we possibly can and it would be great if you could come along and support us. We will let you know the details as we get information and post them here and in our Newsletter.
