FWP is excited and proud of today’s NHS England launch of a revamped Veterans Mental Health and Wellbeing Service to be known as Op COURAGE.

Op COURAGE: The Veterans Mental Health and Wellbeing Service’ is the new name for the Veterans’ Mental Health Transition, Intervention and Liaison Service (TILS), Veterans’ Mental Health Complex Treatment Service (CTS) and Veterans’ Mental Health High Intensity Service (HIS).

The name has been developed following feedback from the Armed Forces community and with support from the NHS England and NHS Improvement Armed Forces Patient and Public Voice and Lived Experience Groups to make it easier for those leaving the military and veterans to find help.

FWP is proud of our close partnership with NHS England and is privileged that four members of the FWP team sit within the NHSE Armed Forces Patient and Public Voice and Lived Experience Groups, providing community input and feedback regarding the care and support of all Veterans, including in regard to the revamped service and specifically giving a voice to LGBT+ Veterans.

Op COURAGE is there to provide specialist care and support for Service leavers, reservists, veterans and their families and the new name recognises that the first call for help takes courage.

If you or someone you know is struggling with their mental health or wellbeing, expert help is available from Op COURAGE. It doesn’t matter if you’re due to leave the Armed Forces, just left the Armed Forces or left decades ago, they are there to help and understand the courage it takes to speak to someone, and work to make sure they get the right type of specialist care, support, and treatment.

You can contact the service yourself, or ask your GP, a charity (including FWP), or someone else, such as a family member or friend, to do this for you. FWP is always ready to help you contact the service.
