Financial Recognition Scheme – An Important update from FWP – 21 April 2026

Yesterday FWP met with the FRS Team to get an update on progress and to raise a range of continuing concerns about process. The ongoing Judicial Review was not discussed in this meeting.

As at Friday 17th April

Discharged / Dismissed

1,068 Applications have been received and 1,025 Applications have been determined. 96%

Impact Payment

1,208 Applications have been received and 554 Applications have been determined 46%

Appeals

Somewhat confusingly the data provided for Appeals was combined for both for both schemes which gives us less information than we have been receiving.

There has been 115 Appeals made across both schemes with 47 accepted for consideration.

Records

The FRS Team is not the route to submit a Subject Access Request for your records. If you have been rejected for a DD and wish to Appeal you can request the records used by the FRS Team after which the Appeal Time window will start to run.

We are pleased to see progress on the DD cases but remain concerned as to the speed of the Impact Payments. We are aware that an additional Panel Chair and more members of the Panel are to be appointed, but until this happens progress remains painfully slow in comparison to DD settlements.

If you have not yet started your Application please note the closing date is 12th December 2026.

FWP and our team of Veteran Community Workers are here to assist you, we can also provide connections to a range of Law Firms who are able to assist although Legal Assistance is not essential.

If you have been rejected for your Application and wish to Appeal please do get in touch with us urgently to provide assistance, for which we have secured a route to Pro Bono advice. Please email your Veteran Community Worker if you are already engaged with on or email Info@fightingwithpride.org.uk
