LGBTQ+ Veterans’ Experiences Accessing Mental Health Services

Opportunity to participate in Research Study

Ellie Young is a Trainee Clinical Psychologist completing the Doctorate of Clinical Psychology course at the University of Liverpool. As part of this course, Ellie is completing a thesis project with a specific focus on an area which means a lot personally and professionally. The project is focused on exploring the experiences of accessing mental health services for LGBTQ+ Military Veterans. This might include experiences of accessing services, but also things that may have put you off accessing services where you have struggled with your mental health. Your lived experience will help to provide recommendations to services and increase awareness of what would be helpful for LGBTQ+ military veterans in accessing future support.

The study is  looking to connect with individuals

• who have served a minimum of 12 months in the British Armed Forces
• identify as part of the LGBT+ community
• willing to share their experiences of mental health

Ellie will be conducting online interviews which typically last around an hour and participants will be reimbursed for their time after taking part. If you would like more information or would be interested in taking part in an interview, please email ellie.young@liverpool.ac.uk
