Researchers at King’s Centre for Military Health Research, King’s College London, are conducting a mixed-methods study with UK-based veterans to explore the psychosocial impacts of combat-related genital injuries, intimate scarring and/or loss of sexual/genital function. Participants can take part in a survey (online or via email/mail), a one-to-one interview (online or via telephone), or both.
This study is the first large-scale UK study designed to understand the experiences and needs of ex-Servicemen with genital injuries, intimate scarring, or loss of function due to injury which impacts sexual activities – and the needs/experiences of their romantic partners, too. These findings will inform a psychosocial intervention which will be created to support the ex-Servicemen and their partners. This research is being conducted by the King’s Centre for Military Health Research, RAND Europe, Manchester Metropolitan University, and Combat Stress.
We are currently recruiting both ex-Servicemen and their partners.
