Marti joins Fighting With Pride bringing over fifteen years of experience in safeguarding leadership, emotional wellbeing practice, and trauma-informed support across the criminal justice, domestic abuse, and health sectors. As a Safeguarding Manager and Wellbeing Practitioner, Marti has supported vulnerable children, adults, families, and survivors of abuse with complex needs.
Marti has extensive safeguarding and leadership developed through senior roles overseeing multi-service safeguarding frameworks, governance, and quality assurance standards. His work has included leading safeguarding decision-making across services supporting victims of human trafficking, modern slavery, sexual exploitation, domestic abuse, honour-based violence, and forced marriage.
Alongside his professional practice, Marti is an academic researcher and author specialising in domestic abuse, same-sex relationships, exploitation, and safeguarding within LGBTQ+ communities. His work includes academic publications exploring domestic abuse within same-sex relationships, trafficking, and sexual exploitation, alongside authoring a trauma-informed workbook supporting survivors of domestic abuse.
Marti’s career spans probation services managing high-risk offenders, drug and alcohol services and domestic abuse services supporting both victims and perpetrators. He is also a Board Member Trustee for the Kirklees, Calderdale and Wakefield Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre.
Marti holds a Master’s degree in Criminology, with Criminal Psychotherapy and Forensic Psychology, alongside a Level 5 Designated Safeguarding Lead qualification. He is passionate about strengthening inclusive safeguarding frameworks and contributing to research and policy development that supports vulnerable communities.
Outside of work, Marti lives with his partner, Paul, and their two adopted children, alongside their Border Collie, Verdie. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening, hiking, travelling – particularly to Italy and Barcelona – socialising with friends, cooking, and sewing as a creative hobby.
