Veteran Community Worker (VCW) – Scotland and Northern Ireland
(She/her)
Kate began her journey as an army wife, a role that has allowed her to focus her empathy, resilience, and commitment into supporting others. Coming from her firsthand experience within the military community, Kate became a Peer Support Worker with Veterans First Point Borders (V1P). At V1P Kate provided compassionate guidance to veterans from diverse backgrounds as they navigated the often-challenging transition to civilian life.
Kate holds a COSCA Counselling Certificate, along with a range of specialized mental health qualifications focused on both military and civilian wellbeing. Her person centered approach is focused on respectful, empathetic, and the unique lived experiences of each person she supports.
Her dedication to mental health and advocacy later led her to the CNTW NHS, where she supported families of neurodiverse children. Her job as a peer support worker working with the education system assisted families in being able to access appropriate resources and an understanding of complex and often challenging processes.
Kate is a proud mother of an LGBTQ+ child and is a passionate advocate for inclusivity, equality, and mental health support for all. Her work is driven by a belief in the power of understanding, connection, and lived experience.
In Kate’s spare time she is an avid reader and animal lover, especially horses. She enjoys walking in the hills and socializing with friends, never giving up an opportunity to travel to new places and experience new things.
